Went to this place late last year, my girlfriend and i stopped in and really didnt know what to expect. We had the an omelette and it came with salsa. This omelette is by far the best ive ever had. it was sooo fluffy and delish. Don't even get me started on the bacon, I love the thick cut bacon that they serve. One of the better diners that i have been to! but i am comparing it to southside chicago diners (archview/ huck finn) I would definitely come back to this pancake house!!

If I judged this place solely on their apple pancakes(which IMHO, is about the equivalent of sex), this place would be 5 stars. However, they don't put whipped cream and vanilla ice cream on their apple pancakes(seems from looking at menu, you only can make a special request for whipped cream, but not the ice cream), which made me disappointed, and thankful that I took half of it home. I later made a grocery trip to purchase said items, and the part after the grocery trip was definitely where I was convinced eating them was equal to sex. :) Apple pancake praising aside, the rest of the menu doesn't seem to be bad either. I sampled a few other items, such as a quesadilla and an omelette, that were decent. And though I didn't sample the potato pancakes, they appeared to be a little thinner than I expected them to be(and I prefer the thickness of the potato pancakes at Svea). Service was decent(and had a friendly server) on my recent first trip here, but not sure yet if the service has occasional inconsistency probs. I'd agree with Tara that it's best to try to sit away from the Christmas tree and train, if possible, as the group I ate here with was seated too close to that, and I unfortunately sat barely in front of the tree. Though I'll admit I did like the train decor throughout the restaurant, and the year-round Christmas tree in the middle. Going here surprised me so much, that it may've set the bar a little too high for the nearby Le Peep to follow. (though I'm still open to trying them later)

We ate there today, 12/27/11. $41.00 bill for three meals and two drinks. I had the potato pancakes and link sausage. The pancakes were only ok and the sausage I swear were brown and serve. When I told them they were terrible they didn't seam to care. I I used to take my mother here years ago but won't be back. Go to Le Peep instead.

I have eaten at this place for years. Their coffee is still very good but I feel they lack portion size and have lost their food quality over the years. Even with their many restraints on their coupon, it is still overpriced for a breakfast restaurant. The side dishes are very expensive and are small portions. I can find much better value somewhere else in town in this economy. So, not a bad place but I think they have lost their value in this market.

The name says it all. Traditional Park Ridge Breakfast spot. Busy. Wait staff very good at what they do. Popular spot means lots of hustle and bustle. Enjoyed it.

This restaurant is NOT Walker Bros. I ONLY gave this place 2 stars because of the organic options and most of the staff is ok...stressing MOST. The restaurant needs a good cleaning and dusting. Chili and Tibetan coffee are slightly above average..everything else is average. Sour dough for french Toast makes 0 sense to me personally....but to each his own. Come here every once in awhile, I prefer Eggsperience when in the area, both are overpriced. Eggsperience coffee is off the chain tho..Enjoy!

When I go to a restaurant all I really care about is the food. This place certainly delivered. My wife and I went in on a cold and snowy morning after a doctors appt, and the we weren't disappointed. The skillet and omelette are amazing and the pancakes melt in your mouth. Will definitely stop in again in the future.

This place is delicious! Nice and spacious, great wait staff and atmosphere, and delicious food! Expect lots of leftovers if you order an omelet!

went there yesterday food was good not the service waited a half hour for sausage and eggs and the waitress never asked if everything was ok. I guess hiring little kids that don't know what there doing is there thing!

Summary: Horrible service from start to finish. Food was average. 1 extra star for serving higher quality meats (grass fed, organic, etc). As soon as we walked in the front door (which dinged a sound), we waited for the young hostess to turn around and greet us, but she kept goofing off with her coworkers. Her coworkers who were facing us were laughing and didn't even tell her that we were staring at the back of her head, until one waitress happened to walk by and called her name out twice to get her attention. Then the hostess grabbed some menus, walked us to a table, dropped the menus off, and left. She didn't even turn back to see that we had followed her or even say, "Your server will be with you shortly" or "Enjoy your meal." Our waitress was just ok, but the runner brought out my meal a good 5 minutes after my husband's meal. We were only a party of 2, so it was really apparent and strange. Why not just wait to bring both out at the same time? Then when we walked up to the counter to pay, unfortunately the same young hostess rang us up. I had a feeling this would go badly... I gave her my Groupon, she marked it off, swiped my card, then I waited. She asked for my card back to re-swipe it for some reason which always makes me leery, then printed out the receipt for me to sign, which didn't reflect the total after the Groupon. So she had to dig through the garbage for my original receipt, asking me which table I sat at and if I remembered the total. I said no, but I remembered the dishes we ordered. Luckily, it took her only a few seconds to find the original receipt, and I think she tried to void/cancel the transaction, but she couldn't and had to ask for help. Her coworker just suggested to give me the Groupon amount in cash. I was just glad not to have to be there a second longer! The end. Note to self: Never step foot in here again.

Great find while traveling. I eat mostly organic and clean, so finding places to eat out can be challenging. We came here because of the grass fed AND grass finished sausages. They were awesome. The organic egg was delicious and pancakes were good. Real butter was also available. The breakfast was yummy and filling. Service was fine and fast. Everyone was cordial enough. I wasn't expecting overly friendly, very talkative employees that are gushing all over you and they weren't. A few stopped and asked how our food tasted and had a brief conversation. They probably could tell we were not from the area. If they had real maple syrup (not regular with high fructose corn syrup and junk), natural jams/jellies, or local raw honey for my pancakes, I would rate 5 stars. Parking might be an issue but we got lucky and got a close spot as soon as we pulled into the lot. Pleased with our visit.

This place is OK. Not amazing, but not terrible either. Their gluten-free options are what brought me in the door. They have GF pancakes and buns (Udi's brand). The pancakes were pretty normal as far as GF pancakes go - dense, slightly chewy, but they satisfied the pancake craving. Also had the corned beef hash. Again, pretty good, but not nothing special. I came at 11am on a Wednesday so there was no wait and the service was good. I'll return for some emergency gluten-free breakfast options, but I'm not dying to go back or anything.

They handled our group of 16 with ease. We all sat together, multiple checks, great service, friendly staff, great breakfast, reasonably priced. Nothing fancy, but it's affordable and we left fat and happy!

Had the Dutch Baby pancake I've been craving for 20 years since I was last here. My boys the chocolate crepes. Loved my Dutch babies! They were crowded as expected on a Sunday, but the service was great. They burnt our first Dutch babies so came and let us know the delay and gave us a free apple pancake. Also discounted the bill. More than they had to do! Great people and great food. Thanks for the memories

Me and my boyfriend came here for breakfast this one time and it was right as they opened because my boyfriend used to work for one of these Walker Brother pancake houses but faaarr away and so supposedly the best time to come is when everything is the most fresh in the morning. So much for that, we went in and weren't greeted. We were offered coffee that tasted like Folgers and every plate and coffee mug or sugar caddy were dropped hard on our table (also a little rude if you ask me). Our waitress seemed nice but it felt like she didn't want to be there. Also the whipped cream on our pancakes was supposed to be had made but instead tasted like Reddiwhip... oh and should I mention the awful outdated Christmas tree and train? And the booths need a little looking out lovin' too.... Shall I go on? You get the point, all in all, this place sucks and I'm willing to go out of my way somewhere forty minutes away if I really need to satisfy my craving for breakfast rather than eat here even though it's literally five minutes away from my house.

From other reviews I read, I have to agree this place is very busy, especially at breakfast or Sunday brunch. Being just a short walk from St. Paul of the Cross Church and relatively close to at least 3 other nearby churches, it is inevitable that people will come here after a service. That said, it is a mainstay in the Uptown Park Ridge area forever it seems. I came for lunch on a Monday around 11:30 and to my pleasant surprise, it was nearly empty! My 6 year old and I got a seat at a table right next to the train table, in the center of the dining area with a Christmas tree over it year-round. This is not my usual idea of a lunch spot, but my son had a reading reward from the library's summer reading program for 3 free pancakes and a glass of milk at this place. Service was quick and friendly. I agree their orange juice is expensive, but it does not come from a carton. You can taste the fresh-squeezed orange and it's by far the best OJ I've had anywhere. I always get it when I'm here. I ordered a Southwestern skillet, which came with 2 pancakes as well. It was so much food that I brought home 2 of the 5 pancakes we had for the meal. For the 2 of us, it would have cost us nearly $16, without any library freebie promo. Not the cheapest place obviously, but I love the diner-style ambience and the food is excellent. While my favorite breakfast place is still Sunrise in Des Plaines, this place still stands out.

The 49ers pancakes are my all time favorite. They are thin pancakes similar to Swedish pancakes but with a sourdough batter. Mmm...

Very busy place so expect to wait, especially on the weekends. However, the food is totally worth it. The buttermilk pancakes and fresh thick bacon were wonderful. The service was great as well. The decor was ok but very clean. Great for the family.

If you are looking for a good breakfast for a fair price then you will be satisfied. There is a large variety on the menu and this is a popular Sunday brunch place for the church crowd. The staff is nice. The decor is dated (but who cares?). They have a parking lot which is a plus for the area and the owner Dale is usually around and swings by the tables from time to time and seems like a nice guy. I am not a big coffee drinker but the last time I was there I ordered it and they bring you a little pot which is nice . It was STRONG which lead me to use their bathroom in a HURRY! If you like strong coffee, a fair-priced and above average breakfasty menu then this is your place. If you use the can after me bring a candle or hold your nose. The only reason for not giving it 5 stars is everything is good but not everything is great. Make sense? Have a good meal or flush out last night's rough evening if necessary! Cheers.

Nice little place, with a tiny parking lot. The hostess wasn't all that friendly but the waitress was fantastic. They have a nice selection of food and give you big portions. So, be prepared to bring food home. Everything was very good, cooked just right. No power outlets at the booths. So, if you need to charge your phone leave it in the car.

The last time I was at the place, the manager, who wound up bringing my food out, had a very visible skin infection on her hands, and as bad as I felt for her, I thought it wasn't very sanitary to have what was clearly scabbing and crusting sores having a firm grip on my plate as she placed it in front of me. I couldn't eat after that, but didn't want to embarrass her, so I just paid and left without enjoying what I paid for.

I was there this past weekend. The food is terrible. Over priced. I had an omelette with cheese and spinach. At first I was brought the wrong order. When i did get my ordered it had way to my much cheese. I ordered the green eggs and ham for my little boy and it looked and smelled terrible. It smelled like if they had poured the whole not the of food coloring. The waiter was nice and took back and brought back the cheeseburger with fries. The cheeseburger is suppose to be grass fed beef. It didn't look or taste like good quality meet. Save your time and money. Go eat at Prasinos in Lagrange. They have great quality food and organic. Thought of visiting their train restaurant but not after going there.

My sister and I decided to try this place since we were in the area. It was sunday and it was busy so we thought it must be good!. We were sat down and right away someone came to take drink orders. As soon as he left another waitress came by for drink orders. This happened another 2 times and was so aggravating. I guess the waitresses do not have certain stations and the whole restaurant is a free for all. We finally ordered our food and waited. After at least 15 minutes they brought out my sisters order and my toast. Said mine would be right up. 10 minutes later they still hadn't brought my meal (simple skillet) and another waitess came to the table to see if we were done. Umm NO!! Finally they bring out my skillet and it was the greasiest grossest skillet I have ever eaten. Plus all of the food was just barely luke warm. I wouldn't waste my time here ever again.

Food was ok, not greasy better than IHOP or Denny's, but service was ok. Waited 5 minutes before we were even asked for drink order. Booths are set low and tables were high so needless to say my plate was at my chest and was very awkward to eat. My son is only 4 so this made it hard for him to eat without making a mess. It was his birthday and told the waitress about his special card that was sent to him and they never said "happy birthday" or the special treat as stated on the card we got in the mail. We have always gone to the too toots grill that they are associated with and from now on I will take my kids to them to be treated a little special for their birthday!

Dated inside, booths are uncomfortable and fixed with duct tape. Ordered a mushroom omelet, it tasted like dirt. Not to mention the omelet was overcooked and rubbery. The pancakes that came with it tasted almost like they had alcohol in them, the waitress said they put peanut oil in them, I dont know if that's true but they were gross.

This pancake restaurant is similar to Walker Brothers. However, they are unique in taste. They are the original makers of the oven-baked apple pancake smothered with sautéed apples and a pure cinnamon sugar glaze. Thus the taste differs from WB's. It is definately sweeter, yet it sets my mouth to drooling just as WB;s does. What they have here that I just love is a chicken and mushroom crepe. It is heavenly. When I can get to have lunch here, I jump on it. They are only open Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. But it is well worth a special planning. The restaurant is managed by a train collector, Dale Eisenberg who shows off many of his trains at the establishment. He also owns 2toots Train Whistle Grill in Downers Grove. This location has been open now for 32 years. This restaurant is one of over 100 units in the franchise, including the restaurant that carries the Walker Bros. The Original Pancake House name. Their menu is quite large And included traditional items such as: classic pancakes, crepes, pancake specialties, Belgian waffles, French toast, fresh seasonal fruit, oven baked omelettes, egg specialties, skillets, breakfast samplers, Benedicts, and frittatas. They also serve an extensive array of lunch dishes, including Southwest items, wraps, sandwiches, salads, and soup and salad and soup and sandwich specials. This is a truly great pancake place!

German apple pancake = heaven! Definitely order it for 2 people though. I thought I could tackle it myself and I brought half of it home. I re-heated it for dessert the next day, and while tasty, it wasn't the same. My husband got the Hopple Popple with cured meats and egg and it was delicious as well. It came with a side of pancakes, and I loved them. Just the right amount of sweet. All in all though, we had waaaay too much food. Service was OK. We had 2 people asking us for our drink order and food order - like they didn't know whose section we were in. It's fine though - I prefer double the service to none! If you order coffee, they bring you the whole pot - even though it was just two of us. Of course, we finished the whole thing ourselves. Decor is a bit outdated, but it completely fits with the pancake house - light wood paneling, booths, and a tree in the middle of the room. I guess they decorate it for holidays because we went in around Halloween and there were spiders on it. This place is very kid-friendly - it seemed every table had a kid at it but ours. Accordingly, it was a little loud, but it didn't really bother us. When we arrived early on a Sunday - maybe 8am, there was no wait. When we left about 9:30 the whole front lobby area was full of people waiting. Maybe it was Daylight Savings Time, maybe it was the groupon, but it was packed. The lot was full too, so we parked in the free lot just next to the Starbucks. I've been sampling breakfast places in Park Ridge lately, and I think The Original Pancake House is my new favorite. Next time, I'll be sure to try the Dutch Baby, or maybe just a stack of flapjacks!

it's your typical breakfast place.. nothing special at all. Regular breakfast menu items, drinks and a small lunch menu. Most of the time I think the food is decent, but I've gotten a few things i just didn't care for.. like their "south of the border" option, which I usually really like. They pack you in like sardines. The last time we were here it was pretty much communal seating which made it uncomfortable for us as well as the people practically sitting at our table, (our table was spaced no joke no more than one inch from ours). The staff situation is weird. You don't have one waitress... it just whomever just so happens to be near your table helps. So one person can get your drinks, one person takes your food order and another person checks in. None of the staff, besides the older gentleman at the host stand, is extremely pleasant. The guy at the host stand is always funny and makes your wait not so aggravating. The parking lot is always annoying as well... but there are a lot of different parking lots you can use. Go a couple blocks up to Eggsperience instead. Much better food.

Even on a Friday morning for brunch this place is packed. Yet, it was only a minute wait (for them to clear a table). The atmosphere is just like most busy breakfast restaurants: bright, lots of chatter in the background and banging of dishes. We sat down and ordered coffee and cola, the waitress quickly brought pitchers which was nice; however, she brought extremely dirty cups too. They apologized and replaced said cups, only to come back with another dirty cup. I'm guess they are to busy to actually clean their dishes. We ordered corn beef and hash with pancakes. Surprisingly it was served extremely quickly and it was delicious. I have absolutely no complaints with the food. As we were wrapping it up, our waitress offered a cup of coffee to go which was nice. All in all, service was great. Good was good. But I'm taking one star away for the dirty cups. I'd recommend this place to family and friends.

Solid breakfast spot. Crowded, but cheerful Christmassy atmosphere at this time of year. They have a lovely fireplace and it's nice and clean. Not a trendy place at all, it's very basic but solid. The food is decent. Everything came out of the kitchen quickly and correct. The food was tasty and perfect temperature. I enjoyed my potatoes and eggs, but the pancakes were what I came for. They were warm, fluffy and golden. The servers there are team players. I even found a Groupon for the place as we were sitting there, so we got our meal plus tip for $18. If we are back in Park Ridge (we came out here because I have to do a drug test at Presence Medical) and craving breakfast we will go here.

I REALLY HOPE THE OWNER READS THIS REVIEW Food is always good if the server can write down what you ordered correctly and the kitchen staff can read English. Service is beyond bad (except for the Polish woman who works her ass off) every other member of the wait staff goes to the back to talk to each other and ignore customers. It is very simple. The server takes your order and a pot of coffee and carafe of water is on he table so there is rarely a refill situation. There is a runner that brings your food then as soon as your food arrives the bill is placed on your table. Then the server disappears and if you need something it is on you to flag them down! HERE IS THE PROBLEM they are taking service out of the equation and allowing shit servers to be hired. I eat there once a week however I feel the owner needs to hire some good servers and step up his game. There is one server imparticular who is a shorter heavier hispanic man who comes to your table and just starts talking to you and does NOT leave your table. Someone needs to let this guy know I can give a fuck about your stories I am there to eat. I hope the OWNER reads some of the many reviews and realizes that the service is lacking big time and makes the necessary changes. Put service back in the experience!

My new favorite breakfast place!!! Delicious food, friendly staff, and tons of gluten free and organic options!! Their gluten free pancakes are wonderful!! Light and fluffy and the first time I've enjoyed pancakes in years. You can also order any sandwich (breakfast or otherwise) on a toasted gluten free bun their omelets are delicious, and huge. They have different types of hashbrowns, which they call southern potatoes, so you can get them made your way. And if you don't eat pork but want meat they offer turkey bacon, chicken sausage, etc.... options for everyone, and everything I've tried there I've loved. I definitely recommend checking it out

So what did I think of the Original Pancake House? Meh. I could take it or leave it. It's your standard, run of the mill breakfast place. Although it's definitely a step up from a Denny's or IHOP, there's not much unique about their menu. They have pancakes, omelets, French toast, eggs, etc. No fancy ingredients, no unique flavors - just good old fashioned breakfast food. Since I wasn't in the mood for something heavy, I decided to go with an egg white omelet with spinach. Little did I know, these puppies are baked, so they come out to you light and fluffy. For an egg white omelet, they did a good job maintaining the fluffiness and managed to accommodate my high maintenance request of no oil or butter, skip the cheese, and sub egg whites. In place of the buttermilk pancakes, I went for the healthier buckwheat ones. Of all the buckwheat pancakes I've tried - these are by far some of my favorites. Although slightly dense, you could really taste the buckwheat. Service was mediocre at best. Our server seemed to be in a rush, wasn't overly attentive and seemed somewhat annoyed by my requests in how I wanted my omelet prepared. Hey, it's not my fault I have food sensitivities! Would I return? Sure, why not. But with a little crepe place down the street and a phenomenal sushi restaurant around the corner, I might opt for somewhere different during my lunch hour.

We all know how great the Apple Pancake is..but I'll bet you don't know that they have 2 fantastic new Lunch items. Now I've had both plus a special I made up..these are the best lunch entrees in Park Ridge. The first is Ursula's Kraut with Southern Potatoes and Bill Kurtis Tallgrass Ham. The second is Ursula's Kraut with Southern Potatoes and Bill Kurtis 3 small all beef sausages on buns. We had a late breakfast Friday and didn't want meat so we created a new "Soon to be World Famous" Advent breakfast.. 2 Eggs, Ursula's Kraut & Southern Potatoes. You have never had better kraut and southern potatoes...I can't wait to go . I have pictures but not sure if I can post them

I want to give this place more stars, but the service won't allow it. On Sat 6/22/13 the entire wait staff was made up of highschool students. They were not very attentive, and very dull. We felt rushed to leave on several occasions despite the facts that there was no wait, and there were many open tables. I'll go back for the gluten-free bacon pancakes. I'll just have low expectations of the staff, and be prepared to tip accordingly.

Decided to come here due to a Groupon deal...my son loved his chocolate chip pancakes which I tried and they were good. My food was a different story. I had a frittata that had cheese, onions, and ham. It had absolutely no flavor what so ever. I added Tabasco and salt and still it was blah. I ordered 2 oj's at 4 bucks a piece that were gross and I could barely drink. Thank god I didn't pay full price...

Came for brunch on a weekday. The Good: +Apple pancake was delicious! It was huge and soooo goood! The cinnamony-sweet goodness just melts in your mouth! Yummy in my tummy! The Average: 1) The rest of our meal was average. Eggs, toasts, oatmeal, juice. All average. 2) Service was average. Not friendly, not mean either. Just average. (I had to chuckle at the "Polish mafia wait staff" comment from one of the Yelpers below because I did notice all wait staff were Polish. Hehehe!) The Not So Good: - This place needs a make-over. Everything seems "old". The chairs, booths, floor, and bathroom. The interior is blah. Note: 1) There was a Christmas tree in the middle of the restaurant. If remember correctly, our waitress said the tree is on display the whole year round? Weird. 2) Parking can be a pain in the butt. The restaurant has a parking lot but it is too small. Also, it's at downtown Park Ridge. Make sure you have enough time to look for parking if you plan on coming down here. 3) Clientele are mostly fabulous oldies. While standing by the door waiting for our table, I opened the door for so many "advanced-in-age-but-young-at-heart", and have gotten a lot of thank you's. Such sweet people. =) OVERALL, I'd go for the apple pancake. I'd take it to go and eat it by my lonesome so I don't have to share. The rest of the food, is average. I wouldn't stay in the restaurant either. It was just a bit too outdated.

Excellent food!!! I came here this past weekend after hearing from multiple friends that they were in love with this place. I came here with my husband and two of our close friends. The wait was around 10-15 minutes and we were seated shortly after by a nice window booth. We were encountered by a sweet young girl Hannah who took our drink order and then shortly after took our food order. She made our experience one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. She was outgoing, funny, friendly, and extremely professional. I will definitely request her next time we go. The only unpleasanty was when my husband mentioned how he saw a shorter waitress seem to be quite disturbing to some of the surrounding customers and looked like she was on drugs and didn't seem to care about quality customer service. Another member was a heavier set older gentlemen who was very rude and in observatory as to how his customers were taking his version of humor... The owner I'm assuming as to his demeanor of conservative and demanding authority. But overall this is a great place and if you are a breakfast lover be sure to make this next on your to-go-to-places.

The food is not nearly good enough to justify the high prices and the awful, inattentive service. There was a 15 minute wait just to pay the bill because they can't run credit cards while somebody is on the phone. Will not return.

Food is outstanding. I had the corned beef hash and poached eggs with 3 silver dollar buttermilk pancakes. Everything tastes awesome, the only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars is because the servers here are pushy and unpleasant. Zeek, the server that took my order was genuine and pleasant, but the other staff that was coming by or picking up plates were rude and definitely gave off the impression that they did not want to be there. Hannah was swearing in the expo line with another coworker and letting my food get cold, when she handed me my bag of to go food I said thank you, I got a dirty look and no reply. Thanks Hannah, I look forward to speaking with your manager. Coming from me, I've been in the service industry for 13 years, just crack a smile and say you're welcome, everyone would be thankful. Makes me not want to come back Despite the amazing food.

Came in with a groupon deal on a weekend. The place was busy but we only waited 10 minutes for the two of us. The space & tables were tight but the food & service made up for it. The service staff was friendly & attentive & the food was hot and fresh! I recommend the apple pancake which is popular for the Original Pancake House chain. Overall, I would recommend coming here during off peak hours & on a weekday. Great food & great service!

One waitress there is exceptional, the blond lady with the accent. Unfortunately, I got one of the mediocre others (name starts and ends with the same letter). Our order came out with another server who noticed the bacon wasn't cooked to the specification. That was nice of him to notice but our server should have brought the food and corrected that error at the kitchen. Then, the German pancake was missing, for several minutes (more than 5). The staff kept saying it was coming but it was obvious a mistake had been made. No apologies upon arrival of aforementioned German pancake. Half appeared to be cooked correctly and the other half wasn't quite done but I suppose in the server's mind, it was good enough. My wife wanted a box for her leftover food but since we had been "served" and the bill was left on the table, our server apparently felt no more need to check on us or take our empty plates. I went to pay the bill and asked the hostess to provide a box as I didn't want to interrupt our server hiding in the kitchen. She said okay then continued to ring-up the following customer. No "I'll bring it to you when I finish with this customer" just a lack of eye contact and no communication. The hostess then finally brought the box to us. I've been going to the OHOP in Park Ridge for years. I've gone to numerous other OHOP restaurants. The food is excellent (minus mine today) but, the servers need to put a little more effort into their work. Ignoring customers after dropping off the bill should be corrected by management. I'm probably going to give a lot more pancake houses a try before I return.

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. We stood around for several minutes before we were seated, even though there were empty tables - we had to ask to be seated at one of them. Then we sat for more than 10 minutes without any menus. We never got a kids menu, even though we were sitting there with a toddler. Two servers came by to take drink orders, but no one wanted to take our food order. After we complained, they brought out a complimentary pancake - the same one my husband had already ordered. The server basically told us that we should be happy now since we were getting a pancake for free. We've brought friends here on two separate occasions, and each time we've been completely embarrassed by how awful the service is. Never making that mistake again.

My unpleasant experience began when the host tried to seat a party of 4 at a 3-top booth next to the emergency exit and offered to add a chair that would block the emergency exit. When I pointed that out, the host said it wasn't a problem. Tell that to the fire department! We declined to sit there and were seated a minute later in a 4-top booth. Then while I was pouring water and coffee for the four of us two waitresses stopped by to ask if we were ready to order. I hadn't had a chance to look at the menu because I was busy pouring! I ordered the Dutch frittata and asked if I could have it without mushrooms. I was told I could. I thought I smelled mushrooms as soon as it was placed before me (which was about 15-20 minutes later). I tried to get my waitresses attention twice, but to no avail. I asked a busboy to grab her. Five minutes later, I picked up the offending frittata and walked it to the waitress. Within 5 minutes I had a runny replacement frittata, which I boxed up because I was too full to eat by then. My father-in-law loves their apple pancake and my husband enjoyed his burger. My mother-in-law enjoyed her omelet. I think I'll stick with the apple pancake or burger when we go back, which we will because my in-laws love the place. Oh and for the trouble with the frittata, they too a couple of coffees off the bill.

Four stars for the extra-thick bacon. This alone is worth the price of admission. They also do the little things like heat up your maple syrup and bring your own coffee pot. The place fills up on the weekend. I don't go in for all the specialty pancakes and fancy stuff, but they do straight up eggs and pancakes just fine. The omelets and skillets looked good as well. I'd definitely go back. It's a nice stop if you're on your way out to Schaumburg from the city.

The food was very good, the menu is so varied and everyone can find something they like. We went on a weekday morning so there was no crowd. I used to live in Park Ridge and know that on weekends parking is at a premium and waiting in line for the restaurant is the norm. But people continue to do so as the food can't be beat. The decor is a bit dated and could use a facelift. The service was a bit slow and wasn't offering refills on beverages - we had to seek them out staff to be serviced.

Busy place and seemed like they were more interested in turning tables. As you were taking the last bite off your plate you could sense the staff hovering to grab your plate.

Terrible service from everyone we came in contact with except the bus boy. No one was even friendly and we may have been discriminated against for not being their traditional customer type. Or maybe they just don't know how to handle a brunch rush. Employees did not communicate with each other well at all. No one greeted us. They accidentally crossed us off the list without seating us so we were waiting until we noticed the problem and asked someone. Lots of weird looks and everyone seemed annoyed. Took a really long time for our server to visit us and she never introduced herself or talked about specials, just asked if we were ready to order. In the end they weren't very attentive and we felt somewhat rushed to leave. The food was fine, nothing special. Food tastes better when you feel welcome anyways.

I love this place. I rarely order anything other than the Apple Pancake, but every time I come here the staff and food are just amazing. Fast friendly service and delicious food. My parents ask to come here whenever they're in town. Everything tastes fresh and home made. You get a carafe of coffee, which is a huge plus for me since I love controlling when my cup gets topped off. They use fresh berries to top their 'cakes, crepes & french toast. The portions are plentiful & there's a great variety on the menu. The apple pancake is literally the size of an apple pie. It is huge & I have yet to finish one by myself all in one sitting. It's almost even better later on with a bit of vanilla ice cream over it.

Food is AMAZING!!!! Everything else about the place sucks! First of all, there there is no place to park. We had a 10 minute walk just to get to our breakfast. The place is so small and so crowded that you are practically siting at the same table as the people next to you. They are so close you can practically bump elbows while you eat. The service is terrible and the owners are right down mean to their workers and extremely rude to the guests. If you only care about good food and dont mind eating with strangers and terrible service.... then this is your five star resturant.

4 stars for the less than stellar service, it's always busy, high volume, high noise, lots of kids (which I appreciate now that I have my own). 4 stars for the awesome pancakes and the best damn corned beef hash in Park Ridge! I love their food, consistently tasty and temperature appropriate. The ambiance doesn't allow you to sit and linger over a cup of coffee but the food is too delicious to pass up.

After hearing my mom rave about this little gem, I decided to try it out and see what all the fuss was about. Boy am I glad I did! They have THE BEST biscuits and gravy I've had since my days living in Georgia! And their sausages have the freshest taste. No precooked, frozen or reheated stuff there. Next time I go I'll try the bacon, which my friend had in his skillet and said is absolutely fantastic. My mom said the same as she always orders it when she goes there for brunch with her friends. This is also the only breakfast joint that I know that does poached eggs. Though I personally am not a fan, my friend said they were delicious and ordered them again on a subsequent visit. Neither of us are coffee drinkers so we order pop for breakfast which is brought out in mini pitchers that get refilled for free upon request. The waitresses are very sweet, quick, knowledgeable about the food they're serving and generally do a great job taking care of you. The prices are reasonable, it's no Denny's, but the quality is incredible and worth every penny my friend and I have spent there. It's also much cheaper than neighboring Le Peep and the sausage gravy is truer to the southern recipe I remember from GA and not as spicy. The decor is warm and inviting, with a big Christmas tree in the middle and model trains along the main wall. Gives it a bit of old country charm which I love. In a way, I feel like I am transported back to Savannah whenever I go there. Most importantly, it is very clean. I can't wait to go back again for my fix of southern goodness. I highly recommend ya'll stop by!

My family and I came in for a Sunday brunch, it took us maybe 10min to be seated which is not that bad. My experience was just not a very good one. Three servers came to ask for our orders and drinks, it was very disorganized. It took us a long time to get water and our food, the waitress said the machine went down and that's why it took so long. She was very friendly but you could tell she was very busy because she probably passed by the table 3 times. The potato pancakes were grey, burnt and tasteless. My eggs Benedict were completely hard in the inside. Bacon was extremely dry and hard. Overall it just wasn't an extraordinary experience. I'm not sure why it was packed but whatever we had was just not something if go back for.

I've been here many many times. As time goes on the service seems to be lacking. If you ask for coffee they give you the pot, as well as the water pitcher. That means they dont have to check on you as much since there is nothing for them to do(except maybe give me more cream because it ran out and the sugar container was low). The food is decent and it comes out quick. I haven't really had the parking problem others seem to have. I would normally go on a weekday (Monday or Tuesday after 9). This last time I went the man at the register(who was also waiting tables) didn't ask how anything was. He just took the receipt and rang it up. Then he gave my mom the merchant copy to sign and walked back to one of his tables. No thank you. No nothing?

Had about the worst breakfast I have ever tried to eat in my life here this week. I got the eggs, sausage and 2 waffles meal. I cannot believe how bad the waffles were. I love waffles, but I can honestly say that I would have enjoyed frozen toaster waffles much more. They were cold and chewy. I think they had been reheated from being cooked the day before. I used to love the sausage here and was looking forward to it, but it was disgusting: super fatty with big chunks of gristle. I could only eat the eggs, which cost me almost $14 (almost $12 for meal and coffee, plus $2 tip). I used to be a big fan of OPH, but will never go again.

Honestly, I had high hopes for this place and was disappointed in the service. First we were cramped into a small table for four with our kids, next to a model train (which was nice for them), but the problem was that the next table was literally about a foot away from us. I could hear their conversation clearly at our table. I looked around and didn't see that there was much of an alternative, everyone was sitting very close to everyone else. The food was okay, but by no means would I call it an amazing breakfast. I didn't find that they had the lightest or fluffiest omlettes or the tastiest pancakes. All in all I just found it to be an average breakfast experience.

  • Valerie R.

This place would probably be 5-stars for me, if it wasn't always so packed. There are a few other places in Park Ridge to go for breakfast but NONE in Edison Park, so it's pretty much to be expected. The oven baked omlettes are phenomenal. The spinach crepes are great, they come with potato pancakes and a side salad (perfect when you are having the "breakfast or lunch?" dilemma. It's a free for all when it comes to service, which is fine, because you get better attention that way. I literally had 4 people ask if i wanted coffee in the first 2 minutes I was sitting. I'm NOT a patient person, so I head back out if i find out the wait is more than 20 minutes or so, but when I do eat here, it's always a good experience.

We live in Park Ridge so we come here once a month or so because it's convenient and the food is pretty good. I always get the Dutch Baby. Quality is not quite as good as Walker Brothers though so sometime we make the trip to Glenview. Took one of my 7 mo twins into the bathroom there to change a diaper this weekend only to find out that they don't have a changing table! I had to change her on the grubby floor. This is unbelievable because they seem to market themselves as a family restaurant. There are are always tons of families with small children there. They have kids items on the menu and have a "tree train" that appeals to kids. I think we'll be making more trips to Glenview.

I WAS a huge fan of this place up until today. First things first....I had friends meeting me there who happened to show up earlier then we had planned. I understand it was a weekend (and they do get pretty busy on the weekends) but my friends were told they wouldn't be seated until the whole party arrived, which is not an unheard of request for a busy restaurant. In this case, however, my friend just had surgery and was in crutches and cannot stand very long. The hostess ARGUED with them but finally gave in and sat them (rules were meant to be broken for situations such as this especially since there were not many parties as large as us waiting for a table!!). We finally arrived with a toddler and an infant in a carseat. The hostess suggested we place the infant carrier up high on a booth vs the floor. My oldest was knocked over like this in a restaurant and I am very uneasy about having an infant up high so i told her we would keep him on the floor next to me since I would be blocking the aisle from traffic in a seat that was placed by her in the first place. The hostess proceeded to argue with me about where MY child should be placed ( there were no rules visible in the establishment regarding carseat placement). The issue is not really where my child should have been placed, because that's a matter of opinion-no place would have truly been safe for him. The issue is how this woman handled it. She SCREAMED at me in front of the restaurant and then turned her back to me and walked away like I was a child getting scolded by her mother!!!! It's a shame that the hospitality here is awful (also had an issue on mothers day even though we had reservations but that's a WHOLE other issue) because the food is pretty decent although extremely over priced. My experience today was like none I've ever had (during my meal the woman kept staring me down and whispering to other employees. I have worked in the restaurant business for years in all areas. I will not be revisiting the pancake house because of this and I plan on sharing my experience with family and friends because no customer should have to feel the way I did today. For food I would have given 4 stars, but for overall experience I am giving 2 stars because the customer SHOULD always be treated respectfully.

This pancake house in downtown Park Ridge has a pleasing old-school appearance to it, so it is the perfect setting for a casual breakfast or brunch. The menu features tasty pancakes of course. The restaurant has its own parking lot on the side.

This is the best breakfast restaurant ever! It has almost the same menu as Walker Brothers except their hash browns are made from fresh cut potatoes, much better than WB's shredded stuff. Best OJ ever! This place is not expensive but, it is busy. Frankly I have never been to a restaurant for breakfast that wasn't busy.

Great if you're looking for a hearty breakfast that is a notch beyond average. They have some plates to take note of: dutch baby (a personal favorite and I would make the trip here just for it), apple pancake, bacon pancakes, and crepes. I love the decor...because it's like you're at a grandma's cabin decorated properly for Christmas time. I would recommend this place to anyone for your Sunday morning stop.

We have been coming to this restaurant since we moved into the neighborhood 20 years ago. In the past, I always enjoyed coming here....but it has deteriorated over the years. (1) coffee is bad...probably the cheapest out there.....get some decent coffee! Why serve heavy cream with horrible tasting coffee? (2) the food never, and I mean never, arrives together. You get your pancakes 15 minutes before your bacon....or your companion is done eating by the time you get your meal. This happens every time! This is hardly an enjoyable experience. If the pancakes arrive hot (50% likelihood) they are great tasting. The bacon is awesome but you are always eating it after you've finished the pancakes. (3) get rid of that awful music! Either get some good sound equipment or turn off that single, horrible, tinny speaker. Playing it louder so the sound reaches across the room makes it very irritating to customers sitting closest to the speaker. (4) better alternative...Walker Brothers in Glenview.

I rarely venture out to the suburbs, but when I do it's usually with a purpose. I was visiting Park Ridge on business one day and happened to notice this place. I took a mental note and decided to visit sometime in the near future because I love little places like this. Before all the corporate structuring, this is what America was all about...family owned businesses and pancakes. It's pretty old school here, which I love. The pancakes were great. The right size, the right tenderness. The syrup, which is also a VERY vital ingredient was also very good. I would also recommend the orange juice. The only really downfall of this place is the service is a bit slow and it gets really really busy, which is good because the business will keep this place open, but a little rough if you want a somewhat quiet uninterrupted breakfast. All in all, a great place. Not to mention, Park Ridge is starting to impress me a little...

I met up with some friends for breakfast and what a mistake that was. That's the last time we'll be going there. First, we are seated in a booth that has not been clean and the booth and table are sticky; the waitress cleans it up and leaves it wet, then realizes we haven't sat back down and drys it off for us so we can sit back down. We order our food and she repeats the order correctly. The food comes out and one friend got something brought out on the side instead of on her German pancake so they take it back and fix it, my skillet and other friends skillet come out and mine is miniscule and hers is a mountain. I check and have no green peppers and literally one mushroom...so the waitress takes it back to get another one made right. In the mean time and the best part of this horrible experience, is the manager shows up to check if we've got everything now, all annoyed and says "you're killing me" and walks away! What The...?! Who does that?! We're the customers and it is not our fault the kitchen and staff can't get a simple order right...he should be apologizing, not giving us an attitude. Besides, my food took longer the second time to come out than it did from the original order...needless to say, as much as the food is okay, the customer service is in desperate need of help and for that, we are turned off and will not return.

This place has probably seen better days! I really the space and location.. and it's been there for awhile, that's for sure. Old skool, The toy trains are great, the hosts and I think the older gent the owner are very friendly come's by the table and asks how everything is. I love eggs Benedict and theirs is pretty tasty. Big plus is their coffee tastes like coffee. Also the German pancake is massive. The bad thing is that this place is packed I'm still trying to figure out when is a good time to go , I just don't care for eating breakfast with every loud kid from PR don't get me wrong I love kids just not yelling in my ear while I attack my Benedict.

Make sure you get here early because I believe they are open only for breakfast and lunch. It's a very nice looking building and the inside is decorated like an old fashioned bed and breakfast dining area. The food was tasty and the service was good. Usually not crowded at all.

If I had to write a review based solely on the taste of the food this place would be in my top 3 breakfast spots. Sadly food is not the only consideration when I write a review. If you have kids ( I have 2 ) and you bring less than 50 bucks with you you'll need to charge your meal. The apple pancake is huge and delicious but it costs 10 bucks!!! Fresh squeezed OJ. 3 bucks for an 8 oz. glass. It is so outrageously priced that when the bill came I puked all of that delicious food back onto the table so they couldn't hit me for the 55 dollar breakfast!!! Great food for all of you Rockefellars out there!!!

Being new to this area my first order of business was to locate a suitable breakfast restaurant for omelets. This place serves quite a delicious ham and cheddar omelet which rivals my favorite (walker bros). It is large, oven baked and packed with the ingredients you choose. The pancakes were good too. Only drawback is sides are a la carte, so I opted for hash browns and ended up having way too much food. You can always just toss it or bring it home, but in my infinite wisdom I ate everything. Now I am suffering from a mild stomach ache and want to go back to sleep. For the record it is 9:33am.

The food at the pancake house is good, but there is a server in their that is constantly on the phone. He is a stocky guy and from his conversation it is not a business call. Sometimes when he is my server, my food comes out just luke warm because he is doing his personal business. This review is not based on one visit, I go to the pancake house 1 day a week.

Went here for the first time this weekend and it was fantastic! My husband had a Oven Omelet and he loved it for several reasons: One is was not stuffed full of carbs i.e. potatoes. Secondly, it was a good portion with lots of meat and vegetables. It meet my husbands picky palette and dietary choices. I on the other hand was craving Sausage Biscuits and Gravy and boy did they deliver. I believe that somehow my deceased grandpa was in the kitchen making them up for me as it tasted just like his delicious recipe. I think its a given to say we will definitely be going back. Seating and service was fast as we arrived around 10am on Sunday.

This place has probably seen better days! I really the space and location.. and it's been there for awhile, that's for sure. The food was good but not what it used to be and also very high priced for breakfast. Lots of Old People and KIDS Screaming! Polish waitress mafia to top it off.... GTFJD

  • Dea A.

Their batters for their waffles and pancakes are amazing. No restaurant has come close to the awesomeness that is a giant plate of Swedish pancakes. The Dutch baby is fantastic, but be forewarned since it is a baked pancake it takes about 30 minutes before it gets to the table. Care to be adventurous? Try a bacon waffle, it's delicious. Plan your visit around when mass lets out, or else be prepared to wait a very long time in a waiting area that cannot hold more than 10 people comfortably. -1 star for inconsistent service

Didn't seem too crowded, but it seemed quite loud--lots of kids present, so definitely good for families. Service was a bit rushed though--we were asked if we were ready to order 3-4 times within five minutes of sitting down, though perhaps they're trying to cater to 'regulars'. The Mexican Frittata was tasty, and portions were very generous, but it was so greasy that I just couldn't finish it. Overall, I feel that this chain is a bit overhyped overall and I wouldn't go there over a mom-and-pop diner.

  • Derek C.

The Owner, Dale Eisenberg, was extremely rude to my family over a minor issue about where our stroller was sitting. We were more than happy to move it, but he could have asked nicely. In this economy I'd rather spend my money at a place with better customer service. Besides, the food was mediocre and the place is worn & dirty.

My family has been going to this restaurant since 1980. Last Sunday we felt that no one was in charge. The wait staff were talking to each other most of the time, not paying attention to customers. The eggs came raw and I had to asked to have them done again (and the waitress' attitude was *terrible*). We didn't get coffee for the longest time---and it was not busy at that time, either. In short, the service (and food this time) was terrible. And this isn't the first time the service has been bad. It will be awhile before we come back.

I absolutely love this place... the service leaves much to be desired at times (which is why it is getting 4 stars instead of 5) but overall I prefer this restaurant over Le Peep by far.

One of the best places in Park Ridge to go to breakfast! The Original Pancake House was recommended to me by my mechanic years ago. and thanks to him, I'm hooked! Foodwise (and unfortunately pricewise), this place is very similar to Walker Brothers. Their Dutch Baby is excellent. The only downsides: This place tends to be very busy most days of the week. Also, for all the times I have been there, service sometimes tends to be lacking. All in all, I would recommend this place.

  • Tara M.

    (3)

Worst breakfast place ever. We came party of five they tried to shove us into table for four with extra chair on the end which I absolutely hate. Looking around you see plenty of tables large enough to accomodate, but they must be saving them for regular customers. Omlet was terrible I had corned beef hash that was good but came with the two smallest eggs I ever saw. The sausage was that resembling the brown and serve meat like products. No offers for refill coffee. Waste of time and money, try eggsperience, le peep, of th Park Rdige cafe onthe corner of downtown.

Weekdays or weekends it doesn't matter, this place is always packed. If you manage to come when there isn't a huge line, the service is quick. I'm not a fan of their omelets, but their pancakes are wonderful. And I love that they give you a carafe of coffee so that you don't have to flag servers down for more. If you are looking for a traditional breakfast and nothing fancy, I would recommend stopping in.

I would recommend this place to anyone for your Sunday morning stop.

visited OPH for the first time and split an apple pancake with my sister...OMG!!! Not only is this thing massive, but incredibly delicious! Could have fed a small army. Went back the following day and split a dutch treat pancake with strawberries and banannas-also amazing! The service and staff were great and super friendly, we did a saturday AND sunday morning and only had around a 10 minute wait on sunday, even though the waiting area was packed! A must go to every time I visit Park Ridge! A+.

3.5 stars for the food/atmosphere, overall. 5 stars for the apple pancake, alone. i LOVE that thing. especially with ice cream on top. it's HUGE. obviously, this is just for those who love insanely sugary, buttery, sweet breakfasts. but if you are a fan of such things, definitely go for it. the cinnamon and sugar are perfectly caramelized and crispy. i can also vouch for the spinach and swiss egg white omelet, which is clearly on the other end of the spectrum. i can only assume that all the things in between are good as well.

I am more of a savory fan when it comes to breakfast--eggs benny, skillets, omelets, etc. But when I crave more of the sweet side of breakfast, 49ers flapjacks are what I want. Now I don't know the whole history of Original Pancake House or Walker Brothers, but they both have the 49ers flapjacks on their menu and it's exactly the same at every location I've visited, be it OPH or WB. So after a soggy 5k at the LPZoo (were you there? I swear the animals were waiting for the ark!) I really really wanted some comfort food to warm me up. Sunday morning and the place was busy as expected. Their wait system seems odd as everyone is given a random number card to hold on to...but it works. The hostesses keep track of every party and being one that is always cognizant of the people waiting (because I hate it when hostesses screw up and seat people that have arrived after the bunch of us folks waiting) I noticed that people were getting seated in order. She quoted us 15 min and she was spot on. Service was great. Anticipated mine and my son's needs--coffee, milk, etc. Even asked if I knew what my son wanted to she could get his order in right away. LOVE! She even made me an iced coffee despite it not being on the menu and it turned out pretty damn tasty. The rainbow pancakes my son ordered looked fun for him (he loved it!) but to me looked kind of smashed. My 49er's flapjacks were perfect--thin, chewy, melt in your mouth carby goodness. The price is right too, very reasonable for breakfast. The place is loud, it's busy and there is a Christmas tree in the middle of the room. Parking in the lot is tricky and a tight squeeze.

I purchased a groupon for this location since my fiancee and I were going to be in the area, and we find it amusing to visit as many The Original Pancake House locations as possible. This place was packed, and the staff handled it well. However, my omelet was raw on the inside, and the staff was really rushed. I'm sure if it were slower it would have been a different experience, so try another time other than a weekend morning for a late breakfast/lunch.

At a place that features the word "pancake" in it's name, I felt the need to get some pancakes in my order. Sure enough they're indeed worthy of having the name. Pancakes are fluffy & light which makes them absorb the watery yet delicious syrup. Besides pancakes, the santa fe/southwest omelet is massive (probably 2 normal omeletes put together),super cheesy, and adding chorizo is a must. Lots of families go here and the place can get pretty busy. It's in a good location right in the heart of uptown Park Ridge so there is a lot to see and do in the area.

The food here is good (great for breakfast options), fairly priced, and the service is pleasant... restaurant is clean, has a non-disruptive type crowd (mixed families usually), and is located in a busy area near small shops and other businesses if you need to run errands around your meal. Immediate parking lot usually full, so you might have to park a block away in a larger city lot where you have to read the signs carefully to park where you won't get charged/ticketed (Park Ridge is notorious for this), but it's a short walk. I highly recommend you try out this place.

This is a cozy and quaint brunch place that has apparently been around since 1978. It's also a bit easy to miss on busy Northwest Highway as there are no big signs, and the white house can be mistaken for something like an antique shop. They have some stained glass and I liked the character as well as friendliness of the place. For a late lunch, we tried their German pancake and a Santa Fe omelette which comes with 3 pancakes. Both were fine. We did not try their coffee, having already had our daily allotment. Overall, a nice brunch stop with character amongst all the varieties of competition out there for brunch.

The Original Pancake House is a solid place to get an old-fashioned breakfast. It's nothing spectacular or unique. They have the usual breakfast items including pancakes, omelets, French toast, eggs, etc. Something for everyone. I ordered the blueberry pancakes and I thought they were good. Not really much else to say except that. The prices are fair, I didn't think it was too expensive. Our server was pretty nice but not horribly attentive. I wasn't really blown away or horribly disappointed with anything here. Would I come back? Yes. Would it be on the top of my list? Not so much. It's decent.

Came in with a groupon deal on a weekend. The place was busy but we only waited 10 minutes for the two of us. The space & tables were tight but the food & service made up for it. Overall, I would recommend coming here during off peak hours & on a weekday. Great food & great service!

The food is definitely decent, which is my only reason for the 2 stars. And I've been coming here since I was a little girl as I grew up in this area.. But the service is horrible and the environment is truly uncomfortable. The restaurants tables are squished , side-by-side...which is fine for some, but personally, when I go out to spend money on a meal, I want a little space between myself and the people in sitting next to...and that's not to say I need a whole lot of room..but jeeez...I felt like we were on sitting top of one another! Not to mention all the kids running around. before ordering food we asked to be moved to a booth, and even said we were willing to wait.. But the manager would not move us, claiming we would be taking up a booth for 4, and we are only 2 people. That's fine for some people and I guess I could understand the logic from a business standpoint, even if I don't agree with it..because for me, going out to eat has something to do with experience as well as the meal..I want good food and a comfortable seat. That's what I pay for. So we went down the street to Goldy's...we found it much more comfortable and the food is so delicious! Unfortunately I will not be coming back to this pancake house again.

Overall, a nice brunch stop with character amongst all the varieties of competition out there for brunch.

went there yesterday food was good not the service waited a half hour for sausage and eggs and the waitress never asked if everything was ok. I guess hiring little kids that don't know what there doing is there thing!

  • Erin N.

  • Mike S.

This place has probably seen better days! I really the space and location.. and it's been there for awhile, that's for sure. The food was good but not what it used to be and also very high priced for breakfast. Lots of Old People and KIDS Screaming! Polish waitress mafia to top it off.... GTFJD

Mmm...

    (1)

I would recommend this place to anyone for your Sunday morning stop.

visited OPH for the first time and split an apple pancake with my sister...OMG!!! A+.

Casual restaurant serving tasty and filling breakfast in the neighborhood. Light & fluffy pancakes, savory corned beef hash, perfect over easy eggs...what more could you ask for?

The Owner, Dale Eisenberg, was extremely rude to my family over a minor issue about where our stroller was sitting. We were more than happy to move it, but he could have asked nicely. In this economy I'd rather spend my money at a place with better customer service. Besides, the food was mediocre and the place is worn & dirty.

This place is awesome. My default breakfast place in the Park Ridge area. A review was due. The food is consistently good.

I absolutely love this place... the service leaves much to be desired at times (which is why it is getting 4 stars instead of 5) but overall I prefer this restaurant over Le Peep by far.

If you are looking for a traditional breakfast and nothing fancy, I would recommend stopping in.

i was hanging with a friend til 7am and i told him i as hungry so he was like 'i know a place' anyway--- he got some egg torta-- and potato pancakes... i had 2 eggs Canadian bacon and a few pancakes.... it nothin special... tons on old people taking advantage the senior citizen discount. overall nothin special. i honestly think that i prefer golden nugget any day over this place.

visited OPH for the first time and split an apple pancake with my sister...OMG!!! A+.
